My point, not expressed well enough, is that the problem folks are having with the update is not corrected by selecting the install as administrator option. I look forward to hearing your reply from them when you inform them of your comment. Again the use of identity 1.3 for the package was to date it as the recent one, again Canon's identity used on the site. If you have better advice perhaps you direct it to them. John the instruction to select admin privilege that I passed on is in fact Canon's from their site.

Yes, for the Pro 100 the printer's firmware is updated to version 2.031

are the versions of the firmware updater software, not the firmware itself. Selecting Administrator doesn't make a difference. Judging by the number of identical problems reported on the Canon forum in the link I gave, I think this is botched firmware update so I'm going to stick with the current version. Yes, I was updating from an admin account. The following supported languages have been added: French, Spanish, German, Italian, and Simplified Chinese - The problem in which the ink level is not indicated properly in some instances has been rectified. The supported paper for printing via PictBridge connection is changed to "Photo Paper Pro Platinum N." - "Photo Paper Pro Platinum N" is added as the supported paper for non-PC printing (Camera Direct printing and printing via PictBridge or Wi-Fi connection). 2.Windows 8.1 has been added as a supported OS. 1.Windows 10 has been added as a supported OS. Cannon advised me to try installing the v1.3 firmware upgrade again! I told no way and that they should pull their flaky software and not reissue it until it has been properly tested. I made a support request to Canon UK including the link to the the Canon US forum above showing many having the same problem. It simply worked, and we don't hear from them. There are probably lots of other users who were able to apply the firmware update successfully, For them, there's no reason to visit the forums and look for answers. I've also heard from other users who successfully applied the update, so it isn't "dodgy" for everyone. 2)History ( FIRMWARE 1.3 RELEASED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MONTH) Ver.1.3 1. 1) Did you log on as administrator when doing the update, try right click on the file and Run As Administrator. I haven't been able to detect any particular improvements, but I also didn't lose anything. Re: Canon Pixma Pro 100 - Firmware Update Fails.

Just for the record, the firmware update worked fine for my PRO-100 on a Windows 10 machine a couple of weeks ago. I know you only paid a couple of hundred for the machine, but you don't want to brick it ! Imagine what it must feel like trying to upload and flash a new firmware on a 44" printer costing thousands.
